Synopsis[]
After rigorous training and help from Himika, the team is now ready to face the challenges of the Yarrows New Year Contest! They meet the former champions, the Pithecus, and realize they're in for quite the ride. Before participating, it seems a tradition calls for fortune telling. Pasca's luck is looking great! But what of everyone else?

| Pasca | Well we trained together, in any case. Let's leave it at that. |
| Sara | All right, we've got our costumes. Now it's time to get out there and earn those swee—er, I mean, get out there and... bring honor to Karon? |

| Leon | And somehow Karon's honor lies in the hands of three women squealing like fishwives. *Sigh* |
| Pasca | All right, there are four events in all... So to take the championship we need to win two and at least pull off a tie in the third, right? |
| Lippy | I believe that analysis is correct. |
| Sara | So that means we can only survive a single loss... |
| Kana | Don't worry about that, Sara! After all that training, no one's gonna lose at anything! |
| Leon | The basis of your confidence is highly questionable, but I suppose overconfidence beats the alternative. While I'm loathe to accept any loss, we cannot control the luck factor in the Sugoroku board game. |
| Pasca | Yeah, and Sugoroku is my event... Well, I'll do all that I can. |
| Himika | Greetings, everyone. How are you feeling today? |
| Sara | Oh, hi Himika! I'm feeling great. |
| Himika | I'm pleased to hear that. As an event judge, I must remain impartial, but I certainly wish you luck. |
| Pasca | Thank you, Himika. |
| Himika | Incidentally, this is not the only New Year tradition held at this temple. We also offer prophecies for the year to come. I hope you'll all go to receive yours. |

| Lippy | I for one am eager to participate in any and all of the traditional rituals of Yarrows! |

| Sara | Mine says "Good Luck," and advises me to "persevere despite hardships ahead." |
| Kana | Mine says "Minor Luck" and advises me to "cherish small moments of happiness in the coming year." Good advice! |
| Lippy | Mine says "Minor Luck" too. It prudently suggests that I value my friendships. |
| Sara | How about you, (user)? You got "Good Luck" too? Huh... The advice on yours is a lot like the advice on mine. |
| Leon | Not that I care one whit, but mine says "Fair Luck," and advises I "overcome obstacles with steadfast determination." Hmph. Childishly simplistic advice. |

| Lippy | I did. It is a little known fact that the rackets originally used in this version of badminton have gradually evolved into a sort of scepters used for exorcisms. That inspired my decision to make a racket themed after Lady Leonne, my goddess in the Heavens. Such a divine tool is sure to bring you victory! |
| Sara | Thanks, Lippy! The ornaments might get in the way a bit, but... we'll definitely make the best of it! |
| Leon | If you lot merely deliver one more victory and one more tie, I need not participate at all. |

| Pithecus representative D | Hey, girl—you're charging into heavy winds. You're gonna get your kimono cuffs caught! Kite-flying isn't just about leg strength! If you can't read the winds... You're done. Adios! |

| Leon | As this is a diplomatic visit, I will certainly be required to submit a detailed report... Hmm. Failing to mention something that is a source of local pride could be construed as an insult to Yarrows... *Sigh* Very well. I shall try a small amount of pastries for the sake of my report. |

| Sara | Yeah, they were utterly amazing! What do you think, (user)? Yeah... well said! |
| Leon | Are you twits incapable of eating in silence? Well... I'll grant you that they did not disappoint. I will report that I was received with the utmost hospitality and that Karon should reciprocate accordingly. |
| Lippy | Indeed. I could not help but observe that your facial expression softened as you bit into the sweets, suggesting you found them most delectable. |
